The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art continually seeks volunteer docents to enhance the visitor experience. Bechtler docents possess a passion for visual art, embrace art as a means of creative fulfillment and seek to share their experiences with others. All docents must be museum members at the individual level or higher. Interviews are required for acceptance into the training program, as is a one-year commitment to the museum and at least twelve tours throughout the year. Prospective docents are also required to attend at least six of the eight training sessions held this fall and winter. Training session dates are:
- Thursday, October 6 from 5 - 7:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, October 19 from 6 - 8 p.m.
- Thursday, November 3 from 6 - 8 p.m.
- Wednesday, November 16 from 6 - 8 p.m.
- Wednesday, November 30 from 6 - 8 p.m.
- Thursday, December 8 from 6 - 8 p.m.
- Wednesday, January 11 from 6 - 8 p.m.
- Thursday, January 26 from 6 - 8 p.m.

The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art offers internships throughout the year. For further information regarding the internship program, or to submit your resume to the museum's internship database, fill out the internship application and email Bechtler Executive Assistant Leandra Kelley or call 704.353.9202. The deadline for summer applications is May 1.
Volunteers provide a valuable service to the museum and its visitors. In return, volunteers receive behind-the-scenes access to museum operations and the opportunity to surround themselves with modern art masterpieces.
A variety of volunteer opportunities exist at the Bechtler including providing customer service, leading tours, supporting administrative tasks and facilitating art experiences.
