Museum Memories is a program consisting of tours and art classes specially designed for adults with early-stage dementia and their care partners. Participants are part of meaningful social activities, experiencing tactile and intellectual stimulation. This program gives visitors an opportunity to explore modern art in a way that increases their self-esteem and nourishes their relationship with their care partner.
This is the first time my husband and I have been able to find a program where we can work on the same level, both learning something new and exploring our creative sides. We have worked on art projects before but never in such a supportive, social and interactive environment. We are also especially excited to use our lifetime membership to visit the Bechtler and attend concerts at discounted rates. - Participant

She said, “He is losing his language, we went to dinner with another couple and he didn’t speak.” As we sat there and watched him work with the teaching artist on his self-portrait he told stories of his youth, his travels and his family. His wife smiled, she said, “This is why we need classes like these.” - Staff
