COVID-19 Updated Tour Information


FREE 30-MINUTE VIRTUAL ARTBREAK TOURS

The Levine Center for the Arts member institutions have partnered to provide free, themed 30-minute docent-led tours every third Thursday of the month at noon. Currently ArtBreak tours are only being offered virtually so that you can participate from the safety and comfort of your own home. Registration is required and space is limited. Please email education@bechtler.org or call 704.353.9218 for more information.

SCHOOL TOURS

The Bechtler offers guided and self-guided school tours. Guided tours are led by specially trained docents and last 45-60 minutes. All group tours, guided or self-guided, must be scheduled with the museum's education department at least 30 days in advance. The museum requires an adult chaperone accompany each group of 10 students. Programs for students with disabilities are available by request. Virtual museum tours are available upon request. GROUP TOURS

The Bechtler offers guided and self-guided group tours. Guided tours are led by specially trained docents and last 45-60 minutes. Tour groups are currently limited to 30 individuals total. Groups larger than 10 will be split up to tour the museum. All group tours, guided or self-guided, must be scheduled with the museum's education department at least 30 days in advance. Please email education@bechtler.org or call 704.353.9218 to book all tours. Admission for groups is $6 for adults and $4 for seniors and college students. Educators receive a discounted price of $4 as well. Programs for individuals with disabilities are available by request. Virtual museum tours are available upon request. Experiential Group Tour: Bechtler Collection Up Close

Participants will get a sense of how a small art museum works while learning about the specific artists of the Bechtler collection and how their creative processes informed the artworks that are on view at the time of the participant’s visit. Participants will experience a hands-on art workshop and a gallery tour.

Experiential tours require 60 days advanced notice and a down payment of $50 to reserve.

Minimum number of participants: 5

Maximum number of participants: 20

Availability: Upon request

Length of tour: up to 2 ½ hours

Cost: $10 per person

TACTILE TOURS

The Bechtler offers tactile tours to present a more meaningful museum experience for the low-to-no vision community. These tours allow participants to interact closely with and even touch select works of art.

MUSEUM MEMORIES TOURS

These tours are specially designed for adults with early-stage dementia and their care partners. This gives visitors an opportunity to explore modern art in a way that increases their self-esteem and nourishes their relationship with their care partner. more than 1,400 works by 20th-century modern artists. Some works are accompanied by books, photographs and letters illustrating personal connections to the Bechtler family.
