LOCATION: SECOND FLOOR CLASSROOM
SATURDAY, MARCH 25 AT 2 P.M.
STARS OF START POINTS
You are invited to attend a special guest lecture with Winthrop University professor emeritus Alfred Ward Saturday, March 25 from 2-3:30 p.m. in the second floor classroom. Ward will lead a discussion titled Stars of Start Points.
“Throughout history many young visionaries have initiated and developed landmark inventions and innovations which dramatically affected worldwide cultures and international commerce. Start Points still serve as an important base for potential creative distinction in young visionaries today.”
A native of Great Britain, Alf Ward has more than 40 years of higher education experience in institutions in the United Kingdom and the United States. His academic journey began when he was appointed professor of Art and Design at the University of London in 1966. In 1989, he joined the Winthrop faculty as chair of the Department of Art and Design.
As an internationally known designer, Ward served as consultant designer for Spink & Sons in London (by appointment to her Majesty the Queen), where he designed and produced presentation pieces for: the Royal Family, Revlon of Paris, the Royal Air Force and the United Arab Emirates, among others.
Ward retired from Winthrop in 2006 and was awarded emeritus status shortly thereafter. He continues to work as a studio artist, teach part-time for the Department of Fine Arts, work closely with Winthrop's M.F.A. students and as a program consultant for design technology.
The event is free for BYV members and just $5 for non-members. RSVP online, or call 704.353.9207, or visit the admission desk by Wednesday, March 22.
