Kids and families can explore the art and artists in the Bechtler collection through special hands-on art activities and family-focused museum tours during Family Day Saturday, May 16 from noon to 4:30 p.m. Drop in anytime during the afternoon. 

ACTIVITIES

Explore the world of Surrealist artist Joan Miró through multiple drawing activities. Activities include a watercolor painting session to create artwork inspired by Miró, the use of colored pencils and markers to create Miró-style initials, a paper cut-outs and collage session, a scavenger hunt and docent-led museum tours at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The tours meet in the Bechtler lobby.

ADMISSION

Admission to Family Day is FREE for kids and $8 for adults. Adults receive a $2 discount by showing a May 16 Lollipops concert ticket stub or the Family Day handout provided to concertgoers that day.

On Family Day, all children's merchandise in the museum store is discounted 10%. Choose from a selection of art books, contemporary toys, activity sets and more. 

LOLLIPOPS CONCERT NEXT DOOR

Start off your day of family entertainment on May 16 at 11 a.m. with the Charlotte Symphony's Lollipops concert in the Knight Theater next door to the Bechtler. Details and tickets here. After the concert, visit the Bechtler for its Family Day event from noon to 4:30 p.m.
