Jazz at the Bechtler

LOCATION: LOBBY

MAY 3

Andreas Bechtler, who donated a portion of his family's art collection to the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, is a fan of jazz music and a musician in his own right. As a teenager Andreas listened to such albums as Frankie Carle Plays Cole Porter, Rafael Mendez and his Orchestra, RCA Victor Presents Eartha Kitt and Page Cavanaugh Plays for the Cocktail Hour among others. The Ziad Jazz Quartet reviewed these original albums and created a playlist based on the songs to which Andreas listened.

Noel Freidline (vocals/piano), Rick Dior (drums), Ron Brendle (acoustic bass) and Ziad Rabie (saxophone) will perform selections including Star Eyes, Relaxin’ At Camarillo, Honeysuckle Rose, September Song, Birth of the Blues and Nature Boy.

The March/April issue of Where Charlotte magazine calls the Jazz at the Bechtler series "one of Charlotte's most popular music events."
