Jazz at the Bechtler: Latin Jazz
LOCATION: BECHTLER MUSEUM OF MODERN ART
FRIDAY, JUNE 7 AT 6 AND 8:15 P.M.Buy Tickets
As the weather heats up outside, the rhythms of the Jazz at the Bechtler series heat up inside the museum. June's Jazz at the Bechtler performance summons a trio of special guests to bring the sounds of Cuba, Brazil and Latin America to life with Latin Jazz.
Latin Jazz isn't limited to just Latin America, but is rooted in the distinctive rhythms of Africa. There are several branches of Latin Jazz that include Afro-Cuban, bossa nova and samba.
In order to do the rhythms of this music justice, the Ziad Jazz Quartet will bring a talented rhythm section to the Jazz at the Bechtler stage. Long time audience members will be familiar with Jim Brock, who brings an extensive kit of percussion instruments with him to the stage. Finally, trumpeter Justin Ray will add peppery brass tones on top of the luscious beats.
Concerts are performed at 6 and 8:15 p.m. with no intermissions. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for the 6 p.m. concert and 7:45 p.m. for the 8:15 p.m. concert. General seating is first come, first served. Enjoy light bites and a cash-only bar. Standing room only is available after all seats are claimed.
