Modern Mondays

Modern Mondays

LOCATION: LOBBY AND 4TH FLOOR GALLERY

JUNE 27

Don’t let Mondays get you down. Stop in for a cultural fix at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. We’re open on Mondays when some of Charlotte's other visual art institutions are not.

A new Bechtler program series -- Modern Mondays -- starts the week off with enlightening art talks. Modern Mondays programs feature local and regional scholars, artists and professionals leading interactive discussions about works in the Bechtler collection and exhibitions. Not a typical lecture, Modern Mondays discussions are open for opinion and debate.

Visit the museum June 27 at 5:30 p.m. for the Modern Mondays program Cocktails & Conversation. Ann Fox, Associate Professor of English and Coordinator for the Gender Studies Concentration at Davidson College, will lead a discussion of the Bride, a sculpture by Niki de Saint Phalle now on view in the Bechtler's exhibition Niki de Saint Phalle: Creation of a New Mythology. Cash bar will feature Kir Royale.

Modern Monday programs are free with museum admission. Purchase tickets online, by phone 704.353.9200 or at the visitor services desk. Space is limited.

Upcoming Modern Monday programs:

July 11 at noon – Artist's Cafe (lunch and a discussion of Bechtler collection sculptors Barbara Hepworth and Germaine Richier).

July 25 at 5:30 p.m. – Sneak Peek (drinks, a sneak peek at a Sam Francis painting from collection storage and a hands-on art experience).
