MARCH 16 AT 6 PM
This event is sold out.
In conjunction with The Art Books of Henri Matisse exhibition, the Bechtler presents the Modern Mondays workshop, The Art of Art Books, on March 16.
In the final phase of his life, Henri Matisse (1869-1954) revolutionized the future of art by creating paintings with scissors, resulting in paper cut-outs that reflected form, color and inventiveness. In this workshop, participants will explore the paper cut-out process and use the technique in their own creations. Participants will also discuss one of Matisse’s most celebrated art books, Jazz. The workshop will be led by UNC Charlotte lecturer Kristin Rothrock.
Modern Mondays programs provide an opportunity to interact with museum professionals, scholars and others who present a deeper understanding of works in the collection and on exhibition at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art.
Modern Mondays programs offer a cash-bar reception at 6 p.m. followed by the program at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $4 for museum members and $8 for non-members.
