Young Soul Rebels
Join us for a special screening of Isaac Julien’s 1991 film Young Soul Rebels. This film, set in 1977, follows the story of an East London DJ accused of murdering his partner. Young Soul Rebels was Julien’s first feature film and was released in theaters, making it a fascinating comparison to Isaac Julien: Lina Bo Bardi - A Marvellous Entanglement on view in the museum’s galleries.
Artist and scholar Shambhavi Kaul will give remarks on the historical and artistic context surrounding this work. Kaul is an Associate Professor in Art History and Visual Studies at Duke University.
