The season premiere of Music and Museum opens with a powerful blend of art and the music of string quartets that were carefully selected and inspired by the exhibition Pop to Now: Warhol and His Legacy. The Bechtler Ensemble, led by Artistic Director Tanja Bechtler, brings the music of German-born American theater composer Kurt Weill; versatile Hollywood composer Ashoka Thiagarajan; American composer from the University of N.C School of the Arts, Lawrence Dillon; Haitian-born performer, conductor, and composer, Jean (Rudy) Perrault; and French composer and teacher Vincent d'Indy to life. The unique fusion of styles is designed to complement select artworks by Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and contemporary artists ThankYouX and HEES on view in the exhibition.
