INDIVIDUAL TOURS
To experience the museum on your own, take advantage of the museum’s free audio guide and museum map, which may be picked up at the visitor services desk.
FAMILY TOURS
To supplement a self-guided tour with children, the Bechtler will provide materials that will assist families during their visit and provide them with a particular focus that welcomes the observations of children and adults alike.
GROUP TOURS
Group tours constitute 10 or more people. Reservations are required at least 30 days in advance by contacting the education department at 704.353.9218 or education@bechtler.org. Tours last approximately one hour. Admission for groups is $6 for adults and $4 for seniors and college students. Educators receive a discounted admission price of $4.
Groups may select from three specially designed tours: Hello Modern, Bechtler Architecture, and Relationships: Artists Closest to the Bechtler Family.

Experiential Group Tour: Bechtler Collection Up Close
Participants will get a sense of how a small art museum works while learning about the specific artists of the Bechtler collection and how their creative processes informed the artworks that are on view at the time of the participant’s visit. Participants will experience a hands-on art workshop, a visit to collection storage and a gallery tour with sketching.
Minimum number of participants: 10
Maximum number of participants: 40
Availability: The third Friday of each month
Length of tour: 2 ½ hours

Antoni Tàpies: Texture and Image
Now through March 17, tour groups can view 23 works by Spanish artist Antoni Tàpies in the second-floor exhibition Antoni Tàpies: Texture and Image.
During the tour, museum docents will provide visitors with historical context of Antoni Tàpies’s artwork, guide them through an approach to interpret abstract art for themselves and explain the lithography process. For reservations contact: education@bechtler.org or 704.353.9218
SCHOOL TOURS
The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art is a welcoming institution where teachers and students learn about modern art and the personal stories behind the artwork. Our engaging and interactive school tours are designed to foster students inquires, develop critical and creative thinking skills, make connections to other areas of curriculum, and help create a visual language that promotes better reading and writing skills.
